Beware phishing and other email scams

by Unknown User on 2021-02-10T09:10:00-05:00 | Comments

The use of email is an essential part of our everyday communications which makes it one of the most common methods hackers use to trick people. Phishing emails have been on the rise and may be hard to spot initially. Here are a few things to look for to help identity possible phishing emails:

  • Create a sense of Urgency
  • Job Offers that will only communicate over email
  • Request sensitive data
  • Contains links that do not match legitimate organizations or the organization contacting you
  • The offer is too good to be true
  • Requests your Wofford username or password

If you have any questions, or concerns, about an email please forward it to help@wofford.edu before clicking any links or responding to the email.
