By placing a course reserve request for items that are rare or in high demand, faculty members may reserve library materials for use only in the library, increasing the likelihood of students in their classes accessing relevant material. Items on course reserve are discoverable in Wofford OneSearch but physically held behind the service desk to be loaned at the patron's request.
Books and other printed materials circulate for two hours while DVDs circulate for five. DVD players are available for checkout, as well. All items remain inside the library during the lending period. Examples of items typically placed on reserve include:
At your request, items from your personal collection may be returned to you upon completion of the class. However, items borrowed from other libraries cannot be placed on course reserve at Wofford College. If you would like to suggest a film for purchase, please use the Film Request Form and indicate that the item is intended for course reserve. You may also suggest a book for purchase using the Book Request Form and indicate that it needs to be placed on course reserve.
Copyright laws govern the way we, as an organization, and you, as an individual, engage library materials. Before requesting items for reserve, please familiarize yourself with fair use practices and copyright regulations, particularly when requesting film or digital media. You will be required to acknowledge copyright when you complete the course reserve request form to your left.
If you need more details or have questions, please contact circdesk@wofford.edu or the Access Services Librarian at extension 4320 or the Access Services Assistant at extension 4316. We look forward to working with you!
