Faculty Course Reserves at Sandor Teszler Library

Faculty members may reserve library materials for use only in the library, restricting students from borrowing them for longer than a few hours.  This practice increases the likelihood of students in their classes accessing relevant material, particularly when the items are rare or in high demand.  Items on course reserve are discoverable in Wofford OneSearch but physically held behind the service desk to be loaned at the patron's request.

Books and other printed materials circulate for two hours while DVDs circulate for five. DVD players are available for checkout, as well.  All items remain inside the library during the lending period.  Examples of items typically placed on reserve include:

  • Books owned by the library
  • Books owned by professors
  • Journal articles
  • Book chapters
  • DVDs

At your request, items from your personal collection may be returned to you upon completion of the class.  However, items borrowed from other libraries cannot be placed on course reserve at Wofford College.

Copyright laws govern the way we, as an organization, and you, as an individual, engage library materials.  Before requesting items for reserve, please familiarize yourself with fair use practices and copyright regulations, particularly when requesting film or digital media.  You will be required to acknowledge copyright when you complete the course reserve request form to your left.  If you need more details about the copyrights related to a specific item, please contact circdesk@wofford.edu or the Access Services Librarian at extension 4320.
