General advice from your librarian

General advice from your librarian:

  • "If at first you don't succeed....try, try again!" Adjust your search parameters and try again. Adjust and try again. This is what we can "iteration" and "reiteration." If you are not successful after several tries, make an appointment with me or your professor.
  • Look at the references and bibliographies in your secondary academic sources. An OK source may lead to a better one. One good source often leads to another.
  • Secondary sources often refer to primary sources; if you don't know what kind of primary source to look for, a secondary source may be helpful.
  • It will probably be most efficient to look for a primary source after finding your secondary sources.
