The mission of the Sandor Teszler Library is to support teaching and learning at Wofford College and provide an
inclusive physical space for study and collaboration. The library’s professional staff promotes freedom of inquiry,
intellectual curiosity, and academic excellence by providing high-quality materials and research support,
teaching information literacy skills, and championing intellectual freedom.
The purpose of this policy is to promote effective management of the library’s general collections based on the
needs of Wofford College, its curriculum and users. This policy outlines who is responsible for selecting and
ordering materials, as well as the formats and types of materials. Policies concerning collection evaluation,
deaccession/cancellation, and replacement are outlined in this document. In addition to the general collection,
the Sandor Teszler Library also includes special collections and the archives of the College and the South
Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, which are governed by the Special Collections
Management Policy and the Archives Collection Management Policy, respectively.
