Library Instruction Policy for Faculty

Wofford librarians are happy to partner with you to help your students meet your course goals. In order to give students the most effective learning experience, we ask that you abide by these guidelines:

1. Plan to attend the library session with your class. Experience has shown that students are more engaged when the instructor participates in the session.

2. Request instruction sessions as early as possible and no less than two weeks before the desired class date. Professors teaching Tuesday/Thursday 9:30 or 1:00 classes are especially encouraged to plan ahead, as these times fill quickly.

3. Each library session is tailored to your individual course and research assignment. Send your librarian your research assignment at least one week prior to the class to ensure adequate prep time.

4. The library session should be connected to a course assignment so that students can implement the skills the librarian introduces immediately. Students should be introduced to the research assignment prior to the instruction session and would ideally have a topic in mind when attending the session. Librarians are available to consult with faculty members in designing or refining research assignments.

To schedule a library instruction session, contact your subject librarian or fill out the Request for Library Instruction form.
